Why I started

I Wanted Plan Talk to Sound Like a Neighbor

Most people only read a home warranty plan once something has already stopped working. By then the water is on the floor, the house is cold, and the fine print feels like a puzzle. I set up HomeByChris to make that moment easier.

My work is simple. I look at how plans usually treat the systems and appliances in a home, I point out the parts people tend to miss, and I explain how a service request normally moves once you send it.

I will never tell you a plan pays for something it does not list. Your own agreement always has the final word.

How I work

Three Things I Hold On To

Plain Words First

If a term needs a dictionary, I swap it for words you would use at the kitchen table. Clear beats clever every time.

Both Sides of the Page

I show what a plan tends to include and what it tends to leave out, side by side, so nothing catches you off guard later.

Your Home, Your Pick

I do not push you toward any plan. I give you the questions worth asking and let you decide what fits your house.

Who I help

Homeowners Facing a Breakdown or a Choice

First Time Buyers

New keys, older appliances. I help you learn what a plan might handle before the first surprise repair.

Long Time Owners

When the furnace and water heater have seen many winters, I help you weigh what a plan could take on.

Busy Households

A full laundry basket and a dead dryer do not mix. I keep the steps short so you can get help moving.

Landlords and Sellers

If a home changes hands or has tenants, I explain how plans usually treat those situations.

Small habits

Routines That Keep a Request Smooth

Keep Model Labels Handy

Snap a photo of the label on each major appliance. It saves time when a technician asks what you own.

Note Your Upkeep

Jot down filter swaps and yearly checks. A simple record shows the item was cared for between repairs.

Report Trouble Early

A strange rattle today can become a bigger failure next month. Speaking up early often keeps things simple.
